well I’m not going to lie. I did not understand a single word. I felt really confused when I was reading this because I know absolutely nothing about elections or any of the presidents. Just when I thought I understood what was going on and thought they were talking about our current president bush I got confused again and thought they were talking about his father. They were weren't they? This article seemed to me like the author was trying to point out flaws that president bush has made or things that he has done that the author doesn’t agree with. I remember when it was talking about how he was in a tent yet he and all the men with him were wearing floor length fur lined robes and watching news on a plasma screen tv. I guess this was trying to say that he is very materialistic and not as concerned about the middle east as we would like to think.
Ok and on to the second article. James k Polk was not black , he owned quite a few as slaves but he was not black and neither was Thomas Jefferson. Hmm both of these articles have really confused me so far.. so after the beginning of this article I kinda assumed this guy didn’t know what he was talking but when he was talking about AL Sharpton accusing squirrels and end tables of racism I thought that was really funny! Also when he insulted being called french I thought that was funny too but I like France. And when he mentioned rock of love that was funny too. I like that show sometimes its kinda weird though. I didn’t really get when he said that the cartoonist would be working at Arbys if Obama was elected. I felt like both of these articles were really trying to bash the presidency and let other people know what they disagree with. I really cant think of anymore to say..

I have to say I did not understand much of the other article either, but I also did get the fact that they were not exactly for President Bush and his presidency. I honestly do not know what Bush they are talking about and it didn’t even occur to me that they could be talking about Bush Sr.
So the second article about the past president being black, yeah that guy has no clue what he was talking about. But after reading another blog post a kid said was saying how they had black ancestors and so that somehow classifies them as “black” yeah but not really!
Amanda I love you! Your response made me smile! Do not feel bad because I did not understand the first one at all, either. I pretty much got out if it exactly what you did, that they were trying to point out flaws. Although I do not remember the dad part, where you said they were talking about his father? Anyway, with the second article, I did not get about Polk and Jefferson being black either! And the part about Al Sharpton accusing squirrels and end tables made me laugh, too!! The part about the cartoonist, I think what he was trying to say is that cartoonists usually make fun of political figures, such as the president. And since Obama is black and everyone is afraid of being racist, they won't comment on him or make fun of him. So he was saying they'll be working elsewhere. Now why he picked Arby's I don't know. Maybe that is some kind of inside joke or something.
If you read it like I did then you would know that this article was very well written, put together and a town idiot would know what these two articles were talking about. Then I would have to tell you Im lying threw my teeth and I have to say Im right their with you but, I think we both made pretty good arguements about #$%# if you get my drift. These articles are more based on your reaction than what you really think it means. So you did good I did good, and so did everyone else who didn't know what the bleep they were talking about. (I think i could get use to this)!!
I didn't understand the first article as well. I kept getting lost on what the writer of the artice was trying to say or even the point he was trying to make. The second I didn't understand why he said there has been two black presidents because I didn't know that and I was confident that, that wasnt true. I didnt think he made his point to well about racism though, because the comment he made about the french was racist.
I can't believe how much I agree with you. I didn't understand very much either because I have no clue about politics, especially American politics. I was also very confused if the article was about the current president or his father, but it must be his father even though I wrote the assignment as if it was the current one. When I read the second article I had to wrinkle my nose (haha!!) - NOT EASY TO UNDERSTAND ( I hope I wasn't the only one). However, I also think that Bush didn't seem to care much about the damage in the world they have over there, instead just being a materialist.
I did not understand much of the first article either. But I think he was saying that we are over there for "bling" and what money type things we can get out of the war rather than helping a country, which I think is completely absurd. Also in the second article him stating they were black kinda confused mme to, but he was just saying that if a black president is elected we can't make jokes we do about white presidents because people will claim it's racism because of the politically correct factor so people won't be able to draw cartoons and they will have to work at Arby's, which is very funny. But I'm not sure if we are ready, but if we are, enjoy the curly fries!!!
